The Endangered Beauty is an evolving and ongoing travelling exhibit of original Carol Freeman images of endangered species showcasing the diversity and richness of wildlife in
Illinois. Stop into Severson Dells Nature Center between March 5th and May 2nd to view these exquisite photographs - you can also pick up a copy of Carol’s beautiful book. Register for a virtual lecture with the artist on March 5th on Zoom, where you will be able to ask questions and interact with Carol.

About the Artist: Carol Freeman’s true passion is photographing nature, creating images that reflect her philosophy of finding beauty in everything. Her work has appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Better Homes & Gardens, Nikon World and Birds & Blooms. She has been profiled in The Costco Connection and American Lifestyle. She provides images to Audubon, Chicago Wilderness, The Plants of Concern and The Nature Conservancy, plus her art is exhibited in galleries, published in school text books and collected by private collectors. In 2004, the photographer initiated The Endangered Species Photography Project, whereby she will photograph all 483 threatened and endangered species in Illinois. Presently, Freeman is photographing at-risk species for The Plants of Concern’s educational activities. She received a BFA from the University of Illinois in graphic design with a minor in photography.
